About JBAS College
The
College was established under the auspices of The South India Education
Trust(S.I.E.T). Admission is open to all eligible women students,
irrespective of their religion, caste, creed or community.
Infrastructure:
The College is spread across an area of 16 acres of lush
greenery. It has spacious and adequate class rooms that are well
furnished. It has well equipped laboratories with the latest equipments
foe science departments to enable students to perform experiments. it
has a playground with a 200m - Truf Track, a volleyball court , basketball
court and throwball court. This is the only city College which has a
swimming pool exclusively for women. A splendid auditorium and a well
equipped seminar hall to conduct international, national and state level
seminars, conferences, symposiums and workshops is an added feature.
Library: The
College has a spacious library with well stocked books, magazines and
journals. Students can access the internet at the library without paying
any charge.
Academic Programme:
The College is an autonomous institution and has introduced “Choice
Based Credit System” in conformity with the recommendations of the
Tamil Nadu State Council for Higher Education(TANSCHE). In the Credit
System each subject offered is assigned credits depending upon the
quantum of work required to complete the subject. Subjects have been
designed with a weightage assigned to each course and a student must
necessarily acquire a minimum of 140 credits to receive a Bachelor’s
degree. The working hours of the Fore Noon College is from 8.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m. The minimum number of working days in each semester is 90 days. The working hours of the After Noon College is from 1.15 p.m to 5.30 p.m. The minimum number of working days in each semester is 100 days.
MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION, TEACHING AND EXAMINATION: ENGLISHEligibility for UG Courses:
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examinations (XII Std.)
conducted by Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Board of Education or CBSE are
eligible for admission in U.G. Courses. Others will be required to
produce ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATE issued by the University of Madras. |
